"Summit shares a commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations. Summit isn't about checking off boxes and memorizing facts to achieve good scores on standardized testing. My children have developed a high level of confidence in themselves, personal development and a hunger for knowledge. The teachers allow students to think independently and further investigate where their minds lead them. We can see that Summit is developing world-changers and leaders in our community."

Campus FAQ's

Our Admissions Process

  1. Chat with our Admissions Team - because our admissions process is now virtual, please feel free to contact our admissions team at any time at (480) 403-9500.

  2. Submit an Application - Applications are submitted online through our website

  3. Provide Records and Recommendations - We require recommendations for each student, along with a transcript release and a confidentiality form. Within the application, we ask you to provide contact information for your child's former teacher. This allows us to request the recommendations needed.

  4. Student Visit - Usually, students who are applying for enrollment will spend two days on-campus with our students, attending all regularly scheduled classes. During these visits, applicants will complete assessments to measure their math and language arts skills. We have pivoted to virtual conversations with these students, and interactions will be set up on an individual basis with each applying student.

  5. Affordability - Summit School actively seeks students with academic promise and a range of talents, skills, and interests to apply for admission. It is our desire that no child walks away from a Summit education for the reason of cost. Our Quality First Preschool Scholarships, Tuition Assistance Program (grades K -8), and the Arizona Private School Tax Credit program (grades K – 12) help make a Summit education a possibility for all families.

Admissions Decisions - Decision emails will be sent within one week of the student’s “visit” with our admissions team online. Family decision and enrollment packet are due within two weeks of receiving an offer of enrollment.

In addition to our Extended Day program, each semester we also offer after-school enrichment classes that students can register for. We have partnered with businesses, organizations, and our own faculty to provide many special interest classes. Although the classes vary every semester, some examples include Tumble Town, Chess Club, Golf, Robotics Team, Art Studio Work, Yoga, and Lego Engineering.

Summit School’s average class size is 16 and capacity is about 18. Our small class sizes allow our teachers to truly know their students. Therefore, our teachers fully support each individual child because they understand each student’s academic needs, personality, learning styles, and social-emotional areas of growth. Every child is known and valued and with that, learning possibilities are endless.

Preschool classrooms have two lead teachers in each classroom so the teacher-student ratio is 1:9 at capacity.

Kindergarten classrooms have one lead teacher and one instructional assistant.

We have 4 preschool classes and 2 classes per grade level for kindergarten – 8th grade.

Our educators use project-based learning to integrate the curriculum. By tapping into children’s interests and giving them the opportunity to initiate, investigate, and apply their interests, learning becomes experiencing. Summit School academics are engaging and rigorous, and our students love coming to school every day.

In the classrooms, students are supported as they take risks to ensure they stretch and grow, and each child is given the opportunity to speak up and stand out. Students are also encouraged to fully participate in all areas including specialist-taught classes in Spanish, music, art/architectural design, computer science, library studies, and physical education.

Summit School’s program strives to create a community of lifelong learners who will carry intellectual curiosity with them throughout their life.

At Summit, we have a conscientious community that embraces “WE” over “ME”. Students are given the tools for resiliency and cooperation through our character education curriculum. Through our social-emotional programming, we strive to create an optimal learning environment for our students, and we are dedicated to providing a safe, responsible and respectful environment for all. Collaboration is the key to success at Summit. We are a diverse community with a collaborative culture that allows our students to understand more about themselves and their world.

Our competitive Sabrecat athletic program, that utilizes positive coaching, begins in 4th grade. Currently, the sports being offered are:

  • Flag Football
  • Girls Volleyball
  • Cheer and Dance
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Basketball
  • Cross Country (5th and older)
  • Golf (5th and older)
  • Robotics

Summit believes in students having opportunities to reinforce classroom learning at home but also values family and leisure time. Therefore, most of Summit Home Learning is designed to take place four nights per normal week, Monday through Thursday. The amount of home learning assigned each evening increases by grade level and begins in kindergarten.

Our graduates attend and are prepared for a variety of high schools. Currently, the top four high schools our graduates select to attend are Brophy College Preparatory, Xavier College Preparatory, Seton Catholic Preparatory, and Desert Vista.
